From Maputo, the Kenya High Commission continues to coordinate Kenya's engagement with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and its member states, in line with Kenya's foreign policy priority of deepening intra-African cooperation.
The Mission engages with Mozambique as a key SADC partner on issues including regional peace and security, blue economy cooperation, maritime security in the Mozambique Channel and the western Indian Ocean, climate resilience, and the harmonisation of trade procedures across the bloc. Kenya and Mozambique share a common interest in unlocking the AfCFTA, supporting African-led peace processes, and aligning positions on global issues including climate finance, debt sustainability and reform of the international financial architecture. The High Commission works closely with the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs in Nairobi to advance these priorities.
