On 3rd June 2026, Ambassador Grace Okara, Chargé d’Affaires of the Kenya High Commission, held a high-level bilateral meeting with Mr. Evans Muhanga, Permanent Secretary at Zambia’s Ministry of Tourism. The session, attended by senior officials from both sides and key sector stakeholders, reviewed progress in tourism cooperation, addressed outstanding initiatives, and explored new pathways for regional integration. Discussions focused on strengthening the institutional framework through the Joint Technical Committee, advancing capacity building via scholarships and reciprocal exchanges, and enhancing collaboration in marketing and investment. Both delegations emphasized the urgency of reconvening the deferred committee session, celebrated ongoing cross-participation in cultural and tourism events, and identified opportunities in joint destination packages, cultural tourism, and hospitality infrastructure. Improving air connectivity and leveraging youth-led digital campaigns were also highlighted as priorities. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the strategic partnership between Kenya and Zambia. Delegations expressed optimism about unlocking the full potential of their tourism sectors through swift administrative action, structured research support, and deeper collaboration between tourism boards and private stakeholders. Recommendations included expediting the second Joint Technical Committee meeting, preparing for wildlife translocation, and establishing a formal research and data-sharing framework to guide evidence-based policy.
