Travel advisories

Before you travel, check the Ministry's advice for your destination. Conditions can change quickly. Register with your nearest Kenyan mission so we can reach you, and keep your travel documents current.

How to read the levels

Four advisory levels

Each advisory carries one of four levels. The level is shown in words as well as colour.

  • Level 1Normal precautionsTake the same everyday precautions you would at home. Conditions are broadly stable.
  • Level 2Exercise increased cautionBe more alert than usual. There are heightened risks to safety or security in some areas.
  • Level 3Reconsider travelAvoid non-essential travel. Serious risks may affect your safety, movement or access to services.
  • Level 4Do not travelDo not travel. If you are already there, leave if it is safe to do so and contact your nearest mission.

No travel advisories are currently published.

The Ministry issues advisories for specific countries when circumstances require it. None is in force today. Absence of an advisory is not advice that travel is safe. Check the conditions of your destination and your airline before you travel, and register with your nearest mission so we can reach you.
