Foreign Affairs advanced environmental conservation efforts at Kangaita Forest as part of Kenya’s green-diplomacy agenda.

The State Department for Foreign Affairs took part in a tree-growing exercise at Kangaita Forest, bringing the total number of seedlings it has planted at the site to 5,010.

The activity was carried out with the Kenya Forest Service and community groups, using five indigenous species chosen for their ecological value. Officials stressed that success is measured not by the number of seedlings planted but by their survival and growth to maturity.

Kangaita Forest is an important water catchment and wildlife habitat that supports downstream communities. The initiative links environmental stewardship with diplomacy and Kenya’s national greening commitments, reflecting the country’s role as host of the UN Environment Programme in Nairobi.
