The Consul General of the Republic of Kenya in Guangzhou, Amb. James Muhati Buyekane, paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, reaffirming Kenya's commitment to strengthening bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation with Guangdong.
During the engagement, the two sides reviewed opportunities to scale Kenya-Guangdong commercial cooperation in priority sectors including agro-processing, light manufacturing, electronics, electric mobility, logistics and digital economy — areas in which Guangdong is a global leader and Kenya offers a competitive gateway to the East African Community and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) markets. The Consulate General is the first dedicated Kenyan diplomatic post in southern China and was established to complement the Embassy in Beijing by bringing services closer to the trading and manufacturing hubs of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Dongguan. The Mission will continue to engage Guangdong authorities on streamlined visa-free arrangements, trade facilitation and twinning of cities and ports.
