ETA Travel Authorisation — Update for Visitors to Kenya
Habari

Apply at etakenya.go.ke at least 3 business days before travel. ETA replaces the visa-on-arrival system for most countries.

Kenya replaced its visa-on-arrival regime with the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) in January 2024. Apply online via etakenya.go.ke. Standard processing is approximately three (3) business days.

All foreign nationals — with the exception of citizens from the East African Community partner states — require an approved ETA before travelling to Kenya. The ETA is applied for and issued online; there is no physical visa endorsement in the passport.

What you need to apply

A valid passport with at least six (6) months of remaining validity, a recent passport-style photograph, return-flight itinerary and a confirmed accommodation booking in Kenya. The fee is paid online during the application.

For UAE residents travelling to Kenya

UAE residents (Kenyan or otherwise) follow the same ETA process. Plan ahead during peak travel periods (December–January, June–August) when processing volumes are higher.

The official portal is etakenya.go.ke. The Consulate does not process ETA applications and cannot expedite them.
